Users not registered with Companies House

Signing up to the Revenue Scotland online portal for users operating as a non-incorporated organisation or self-employed business in the UK.



If you are not a registered organisation at Companies House in the UK, we offer a manual authentication process for sign-up to our Online Portal. Please follow the steps below to register with us.

 

Please Note: This process takes up to 10 business days.

1. To sign up for our Online Portal, go to the following link: https://login.revenue.scot. From here select ‘New User Registration’. You will then need to enter a valid email address and full name.

2. An email containing a confirmation link will then be sent to the email address provided. Upon selecting this confirmation link you will be re-directed to our Online Portal to proceed with the sign-up process.

3. You will be prompted to select the sign-up option required - select ‘Sign up for Land and Buildings Transaction Tax’ and then ‘Unincorporated Bodies’.

4. You will be prompted to enter the following details:

Requested Information:

  • Name of Organisation – enter the registered name of the company or business for sign-up. If self-employed, enter the name of the primary account holder – note: Local Authorities should enter the name of the authority; Partnerships should enter the name of the partnership or senior partner (whichever is most relevant).
  • National Insurance Number - please enter your National Insurance Number (note: this should only be entered for self-employed individuals or partners). If this is not applicable, please leave this field blank;
  • Address – please enter a valid postal address to which the confirmation of the sign-up will be sent
  • You will also be prompted to create your own password. This password must:
    • not contain the word ‘password’ or any variant;
    • not contain a word found in the dictionary;
    • contain at least one number;
    • contain at least one special character (i.e. one of !"#$%&'()*+,-./:;<=>?@[]^ _`{|}~\)
    • contain an upper and a lower case character;
    • be between 9 and 12 characters in length;
    • not be the same as your Username; and
    • not be a previously used password.

5. Once you have set this password, you will receive confirmation of your Username – please make a note of this.

What Next?

6. Once the initial application for sign-up has been completed as above, we will then verify and confirm the details that you have provided. This can take up to 10 business days to complete. Once we have confirmed this, you will receive an activation code through the post to the company or business address provided at the time of sign-up.

 

7. Once you receive your activation code, you must log into our Online Portal within 21 days to confirm the account. This account will then be provided with Administrator rights. See the ‘Administrator account’ section of this guidance for further information on Administrator rights.

Please note: Each time you log into your account, you will be required to enter your username and password, followed by a one-time passcode that will be emailed to your email address. The first time you log in, you will be required to enter your Username and password, followed by a one-time passcode, before you enter your activation code.
